Jon Ratigan was born In Tredegar in the South Wales valleys and graduated from South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education in Cardiff in 1990 where he specialised in ceramic sculpture; in 2010, he graduated from Screen Academy Wales, Newport with an MA in Film. 

He has made work both as a painter and as a Moving Image artist, exhibiting and screening work both nationally and internationally.

Recently, he has returned to painting and drawing as his principle mediums, currently more or less exclusively generating work pertaining to what he terms his ‘Guys at tables’ series.
